Making Your Own Fly Spray for Horses

If you've ever owned, or even ridden a horse, you know that horses deal with flies almost all the time, and if I were a horse, that would be highly uncomfortable. Flies can actually give horses sores and those sores do have a potential for becoming infected. As a horse owner, you want to make sure that your horse is kept as healthy and comfortable as possible.

One thing you can try to deter the flies from irritating and biting your horse is to spray fly spray on your horse. You can find fly sprays at any horse supply store, but there may be times when you can't, or don't want to spend the money. There is a way you can make your own fly spray and it's super easy!

You will need:

• 1/2 cup Dawn dish soap
• 1/2 cup vinegar
• 1/2 cup water

This mixture is super easy to make and will work to ward off the flies, but the vinegar could succeed in making your horse smell a little weird. Granted, horses may not have a most awesome aroma, but adding vinegar to the solution might not help with the horse smell. For optimum effectiveness, I'd advise using a brand bought from the store, but for your basic fly banishing needs, this should do the trick!
