Improving the Shine of Your Cat's Coat

You know how you see those shampoo commercials where the models' hair shines, and you wonder how in the world anyone's hair could actually be that shiny in real life? Sometimes you see the same thing with cats. Some cats just have really shiny coats, and while making your own hair abnormally shiny is only sometimes achievable, it isn't too hard to get your cat to have that sleek and shiny coat.

A lot of what goes into a shiny pet coat is nutrients. Your cat needs the proper nutrients in order for anything about your cat to be healthy, and that includes its coat. If your cat isn't receiving the proper nutrients, then there's no way its coat will be healthy and shiny. You should also keep in mind that there are a lot of cat foods out there promising to boost the health and shine of your cat's coat. Before you go for any food that makes that promise, check with your vet and make sure that it will be worth it. You don't want to go out spending more money than you need to, especially if it won't work.

Once you know your cat is healthy and receiving the nutrients it needs, then you can try some other techniques of improving the shine of your cat's fur. One such technique is pretty simple. All you need to do is rub your cat's fur with a chamois leather cloth. You will be amazed at how well it works. If you do not have chamois leather a piece of silk or velvet will do the trick, too. I'm not sure why exactly this works, but it's one of those simple things that you can easily try, and if it improves the shine of your cat's coat, then that's excellent!

A shiny coat is always nice, and as long as you keep in mind what's important when it comes to your cat's coat, then you shouldn't have any problems maintaining the shine of your cat's fur. Ensure that your cat is receiving the proper nutrients and then if you want you can try other methods—after that you and your cat should be good to go!
