Stop Your Cat from Falling Out an Open Window

Summary: Cats aren't dumb animals, and are usually pretty good at figuring things out. However, if they get lazy and tired, falling asleep in front of an open window could spell out a recipe for disaster. Make sure that your cat is safe and away from any open windows.

It's kind of a funny mental picture, to picture a cat falling out of an open window, but if it happens to your cat, you may not be laughing too hard (well, at least at first!). Just to play it on the safe side, you should keep an eye out for the danger signs when it comes to your cat and open windows—you want to do everything you can to keep your cat safe!

When it starts getting warm outside, it's natural to want to open the windows and let in the warm air. You do, however, need to make sure of a couple of things. You should check and make sure that all the screens are safely secured in the windows, and this is for the safety of not just your cat. Keeping and maintaining screens on your windows is important for the safety of your family as well. Also, if you don't have a good screen, you'll likely have to deal with icky bugs!

You'd think that cats would be smart enough to avoid moving too close to the open window, but accidents do happen. Your cat could go by the open window on a warm summer day to enjoy the breeze and sun, it could start dozing, and then just slip! That would be fun for no one and you should take the necessary precautions to ensure that your cat stays safe.

If, for whatever reason, your windows can't have screens, then there is a technique you can try to deter your cat from the open windows. Whenever your cat begins to go toward the window, spray it with water from a water bottle, and before you know it, your cat will most definitely avoid the windows! If you're a pet owner, then you need to take the proper precautions to protect your pet, and watching out for open windows is something you should definitely do!
